The 1st Barrhead Scout Group has provided Scouting activities for young people in the Barrhead area for more than 100 years, and now offers activities for both girls and boys from the ages of 6 to 18 on various nights of the week. Sections / Leaders
Young people joining Scouts will join one of four sections, depending on their age. Each of the sections delivers a varied programme of activities to suit the age range of the members. All of the sections are open to both girls and boys.
- Beavers are 6 to 8 years.
- Cubs are aged from 8 to 10½ years.
- Scouts are aged from 10½ to 14 years.
- Explorers are aged from 14 to 18 years.
On reaching the age of 18, members can also stay involved with the movement as a member of the Scout Network.
The Group Scout Leader is Janet Campbell who joined Scouting originally as a parent helper.
The 1st Barrhead own their own hall on Arthurlie Street, Barrhead. It was built in the 1970’s and is currently undergoing work to up-grade the facilities to include full disabled access, kitchen facilities, gym hall and small meet room.
